Workshop for “Stichting de Zonnebloem”

As a professional organizer, I frequently have the opportunity to share my passion for order and organization with others.

Recently, I had the honor of conducting a workshop for Stichting de Zonnebloem, an organization dedicated to individuals with physical disabilities. The workshop, titled “Spullen, Lust of Last,” was an incredible experience with an amazing turnout and enthusiastic participants. In this blog, I would like to share my experience with you and emphasize how organizing your belongings can enrich your life.

A Warm Welcome:

Upon arriving at the workshop, I was warmly welcomed by the participants of Stichting de Zonnebloem. Their positive energy and enthusiasm were contagious. I immediately felt a sense of connection and a desire to share something valuable. This reinforced my belief that organization is not just about physically arranging belongings but also about creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Awareness of Belongings:

During the workshop, we reflected on the significance of belongings in our lives. I encouraged the participants to consider the emotional value certain items hold and how they impact their daily lives. Together, we discovered that belongings can be both a source of pleasure and a burden. By becoming aware of the impact of our belongings, we can make better choices and create more space for what truly matters.

The Importance of Letting Go:

An important aspect of the workshop was discussing the act of letting go of unnecessary items. For some participants, this was challenging as they often held onto things out of fear of losing memories. I encouraged them to focus on the freedom and space that comes with letting go of belongings that no longer serve us. Together, we explored ways to make letting go easier, such as donating items to those who would benefit from them.

Creating an Organized Living Environment:

In addition to discussing letting go of belongings, I provided practical tips and tricks for creating an organized living environment. Together, we worked on organizing key areas of the house, such as the bedroom, kitchen, and living room. I shared simple yet effective strategies, such as using storage bins, drawer systems, and labels, to easily locate items and reduce chaos. The participants were enthusiastic and eager to apply these techniques.

The “Spullen, Lust of Last” workshop for Stichting de Zonnebloem was an unforgettable experience.

Sharing my knowledge and passion with this inspiring group of individuals with physical disabilities was incredibly rewarding. Together, we discovered the value of conscious choices, letting go, and creating an organized living environment. I am grateful for the opportunity to motivate others to view their belongings as a source of joy and functionality, rather than a burden. My hope is that this workshop has a lasting impact on the participants, allowing them to fill their lives with more space, order, and joy.
